Discuss the student's overall CAS aims and goals (are these appropriate? and/or should these be further developed?)
Look at the Personal Profile, what ideas does the student raise in this document that could become part of CAS?
Discuss an experience
Discuss the new proposals
Discuss overall progress
- Discuss how these are formed?
- Do they display an appropriate link to CAS?
- Should they be developed further?
- What does this student feel strongly about?
- How did the student update/change/improved these?
- Do they reflect the student's interests, talents, areas for growth and passions?
- Is there a topic of focus defined through this goal (a theme to which they are going to connect all their experiences?)
Look at the Personal Profile, what ideas does the student raise in this document that could become part of CAS?
- Does it display the interests of the student?
- What things that are included can become part of CAS and how?
- Is one of them in the proposals of the student?
Discuss an experience
- How will the student use the CAS stages framework (investigation, preparation, action, reflection, demonstration?)
- How is the student going to monitor their development in the learning outcomes selected?
- What evidence are they going to include in their portfolio?
- How and when is the student going to reflect (encourage other forms of reflection rather than just writing it)
Discuss the new proposals
- Check together if the timeline is consistent (when does the student need to start with a new experience?)
- Do they fit with your student's interests, talents etc. will he/she enjoy doing this?
- Why does the student feel this is important to use as part of CAS?
- What strands of CAS are they covering (remind them that they should be looking for a good balance between the 3 strands)
- Which learning outcomes will the develop (The minimal requirement is for them to at least use each learning outcome twice)
- Provide feedback on the proposals (on MB) and discuss the deadline for approval
- Does the student have plans for new proposals?
- Do they fit the student's overall CAS goal?
- Which learning outcomes did the student not yet tick, advise them on this, which ones are appropriate!
- What strands of CAS are they covering (remind them that they should be looking for a good balance between the 3 strands.
Discuss overall progress
- Does the student show active involvement in his/her CAS programme?
- Does the student so far show that they have been working on CAS experiences for the last months (Timeline, and is there evidence?)
- Does the student have experiences he/she is working on?
- Does the student already have approval for these experiences? If no, why not? What does the student need to work on?
- If the student doesn't have approval yet, it might be that they are still investigating things in order to define specific information for their proposal, do they show evidence of this in the portfolio?
- If the student is currently engaged in an experience, did they at least already show some evidence or reflection from what already has been done?
- How does the student plan to complete the current experience?
- Does the student already have an experience that can be checked for completion?
